The CA 311 was produced by the Italian air force as a reconnaissance aircraft with secondary abilities to attack on the ground. This twin motor went into service in 1940 with a number of units deployed in Northern Africa, where serious problems of reliability where found due to the poor power of the motors,and inadequate weaponry. Nevertheless the aircraft distinguished itself in many actions in Africa, and later in the Balkans and Russia, thanks to its ease of handling and the ability of the crews and mechanics.Working on all fronts, the CA 311 reached the end of the conflict still in use with a number of schools of various specialities, both North and South.
