The Freedom Fighter was developed at the end of the 50s to provide America’s allies with a lightweight supersonic low-cost fighter, easy to maintain by ground crews, as compared to the complex aeroplanes of the 100 Series ( F-100, F-104, etc.) Designed using aerodynamics that were innovative at the time, the aricraft proved highly successful. A beautiful handler with short maintenance times, it was adopted by many Air Forces, despite the drawbacks of limited electronics and no radar. The F-5 was used in most regional wars of the last thirty years.
